Biographical Information[edit]
Trick McSorley broke into the National Association at the age of 22 in his hometown of St. Louis, and then didn't come back until age 31 in the American Association.
He played third base and outfield in 1875, while in 1884 he was primarily a first baseman and also pitched one game. In 1886, his last year in the majors, he played only shortstop. He also umpired two games in th American Association, in 1884 and 1888.
One source says he was removed from the team in 1875 (along with Joe Blong) for "crooked play". He then played in Covington, KY, and in 1876 came back to the St. Louis team when it was no longer in the National Association. In 1877 he played for the Indianapolis team in the International Association.
