Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Otis Foster was the 15th overall selection in the 1975 amateur draft, taken by the Boston Red Sox one pick after pitcher Bo McLaughlin. He spent six years in the minor leagues and reached Triple-A, but never played in the majors.

After a weak first campaign, he rattled off three straight solid years from 1976 to 1978 -- he hit 42 home runs, walked 245 times and struck out only 171 times. In 1976, he had 12 home runs and 83 RBI. The next year, he had 16 dingers and 74 RBI and in 1978, he had 14 home runs and 85 RBI while batting .301. He had his first taste of Triple-A in '78 and hit .295/.408/.443 with six home runs and 36 RBI in 54 games for the Pawtucket Red Sox. After a down year in 1979, mostly spent in Triple-A, he returned to Double-A for his final campaign, 1980.

Overall, Foster hit .271/.382/.413 with 61 home runs and 361 RBI in 673 games.
