Osmani Tamayo pitched for the Santiago de Cuba Wasps.
Tamayo was 2-1 with a save and a 3.92 ERA in 24 games in 2007-2008. Through that season, his third, he was 6-3 with a save and a 4.90 ERA. In 2008-2009, Osmani fell to 3-2, 7.45 with a save in 30 games. He allowed a .330 average and walked 28 in 48 1/3 IP. Despite his low number of innings, he was 10th in the Cuban Serie Nacional with 13 home runs allowed.
Tamayo pitched 37 games in 2009-2010 to tie Duniel Ibarra for the league lead. He was 3-3 with 7 saves and a 5.68 ERA, giving up a .323 average. He tied for the lead with five triples allowed. He improved to 7-7, 4.09 in 2010-2011, then was 7-5 with 8 saves and a 3.88 ERA in 2011-2012.
He died from a heart attack in May 2012.
