Biographical Information[edit]

Orlando Isales posted the impressive batting line of .400/.500/.800 during his brief time in the majors in 1980. He was at the time one of the youngest players in the National League, but it was his misfortune to play for the talent-rich Philadelphia Phillies who went on to win the 1980 World Series. Bake McBride was the regular right-fielder for the team and hit well in 1980, so there wasn't much room for Isales to win a job.

Isales, from Puerto Rico, signed as a free agent in 1975 and was a minor leaguer at the age of 15 years old.

Coming from Santurce, he also played winter ball during several seasons for the Santurce Crabbers.

He was a star in the Babe Ruth League in 1974, being honored for hitting .529.
