In 1904 the team from Omaha, NE (formerly the Omaha Indians) was renamed the Omaha Rangers and went from worst-to-first as they took the Western League title with a strong finish and a 90-60 record to edge the Colorado Springs Millionaires and Denver Grizzlies. The top players were 1B Del Howard (.316, 9 homers, second in the WL in average, first in homers and hits {184}) and P Jack Pfiester (a league-high 178 strikeouts and 145 walks). In 1905 the team changed identities again, taking on the name of owner Pa Rourke in becoming the Omaha Rourkes.
