Oliver Kanthak has played in the Bundesliga. He was 0 for 1 with a walk for Germany in the 1998 European Junior Championship. In 2003, he hit .167/.262/.185 as a regular third baseman for the Solingen Alligators and fielded only .851; he also pitched five games, going 0-1 with a 9.82 ERA. He batted .231/.268/.256 for Solingen in 2004 and did not play in the Bundesliga-1 in 2005. In 2006, Oliver was 3 for 16 with a walk. Used as Solingen's main center fielder in 2007, he batted .286/.416/.317.

Kanthak played for Austria in the 2007 European Championship, going 2 for 12 with a run and a RBI. He was 1 for 8 with a double, 3 runs and 3 RBI for the 2008 Alligators.
