Biographical Information

Olber Peña has been a catcher for the Vegueros de Pinar del Río. He was 0 for 2 as a fourth-string backstop as a rookie in 2007-2008 and did not play in 2008-2009. The youngster became a starter in 2009-2010 and did not show an adequate bat (.228/.307/.342), though his defense was good (.997 fielding percentage, opponent SB 17 for 25). He was dropped to a third-string role in 2010-2011 behind the younger Lorenzo Quintana and old-timer Yosvani Peraza, hitting .250/.268/.300 and being used as a defensive sub often.
