Biographical Information[edit]
Odie Davis played 17 games in the majors for the Texas Rangers in 1980.
Davis was at Prairie View A&M University from 1974 to 1977, where he was a teammate of Steve Henderson in 1974. Davis was a 7th-round draft pick by the Rangers in 1977, and played in the minors from 1977 to 1982, coming up with the Rangers in September-October 1980.
Davis was often on the same minor league teams as Rick Lisi, who was the same age as Davis.
The only other major leaguer (through 2008) named Odie has been Odie Porter. Both players had that name as their given name rather than as a nickname.
