Octavio Sandoval played in the minor leagues and for the Mexico national team.
Sandoval represented Mexico in the 1995 Intercontinental Cup, going 4 for 14 with a run and playing good defense in center (10 PO, 2 A, 0 E). He began his professional career with the Tigres Capitalinos in 1996, hitting .239/.299/.282. He followed with seasons of .242/.294/.307 and .217/.269/.251. He hit .270/.335/.365 in 73 games in 1999. He improved to .322/.381/.510 with 6 homers in 2000, then he had a .249/.333/.381 batting line in 2001. Sandoval hit .252/.302/.367 in 2002, and he played 77 games with a .275/.338/.442 slash line in 2003. The team moved and became the Tigres de la Angelopolis in 2004 and he hit .327/.370/.531 as a solid bench player. Sandoval had a .301/.327/.441 batting line in 2005, then he batted .298/.350/.387 for the Tigers in 2006 and .318/.352/.364 for the Aguilas de Mexicali in the winter.
The Sonora native blasted 5 homers with a .269/.289/.351 batting line in 2007 for the Tigres de Quintana Roo, and he represented Mexico in the 2007 Baseball World Cup. He hit .214/.267/.286 in the event, backing up Francisco De La Torre in RF and Sergio Contreras in center. Sandoval then batted .294/.335/.403 in 2008, and he had a .246/.313/.279 batting line in 40 games for the Yaquis de Obregon in the winter. He was 10-for-30 in 2010, and he hit .264/.303/.370 in the winter for the Tecolotes de Nuevo Laredo. Sandoval moved to the Petroleros de Minatitlan and hit .227/.280/.298 in 2011, but he only went 1-for-16 with the Leones de Yucatan in 2012 then he retired.
