The Occidentales played in the Cuban All-Star Series four times. They lost in 1968 to the Orientales, 5 games to 3 with one tie. Pedro Chávez, Eulogio Osorio and Andrés Liaño were among their top performers. In 1969, they lost 5 games to 4 to the Orientales. Rigoberto Rosique led the event in average (.389), hits (14) and RBI (9) while Santiago Mederos led with 17 strikeouts.

In 1971, Cháves led the Occidentales to their first win, 6 games to 3 over the Orientales. Félix Isasi, Agustín Marquetti and Armando Capiró led the offense and Walfrido Ruíz and Emilio Salgado were the top pitchers. They lost, 9 games to 6, in 1972. Arturo Linares hit the most doubles (4), Germán Aguila the most runs (7), Isasi the most RBI (9), Wilfredo Sánchez the most steals (5). Among pitchers, Rodovaldo Esquivel led in almost every category, though Bernardo González had a share of the strikeout lead.
