Biographical Information[edit]
In addition to his time as a big league manager and team owner, O.P. Caylor was an attorney and a well-known sportswriter. He was famous for biting comments, and often received the same from those he criticized in print. According to the SABR biography, he was part of the group that founded the American Association.
Caylor never played pro ball, and in fact often drew comments that he was small and frail-looking. Through most of his career he was a newspaper owner and journalist.
