Norlis Concepción has played for over a decade in the Cuban Serie Nacional. He led the 2000-2001 Serie Nacional with 13 sacrifice hits for Las Tunas. After his 8th season, 2004-2005, he had batted .312/.356/.424 for his career; he had fielded .982 and had allowed 252 steals while throwing out 152 runners. In 2005-2006, the veteran hit .302/.345/.419 and fielded .997. Opponents were 42-for-57 on the basepaths.

Unlike most Cuban players, Norlis switched teams during his career. He moved to Pinar del Rio for 2006-2007 and batted .268/.330/.307 while also transitioning to first base. He hit .285/.354/.368 in a backup role in 2007-2008. The hefty veteran had a batting line of .271/.349/.437 in 2008-2009 and fielded .992 at first base, where he was the starter for Pinar del Rio.

In 2009-2010, Concepción produced at a .335/.370/.495 rate while fielding .987. He lost his starting role at first base to William Saavedra in 2010-2011; for the year, Norlis was at .286/.335/.467. He still was used somewhat regularly at DH. In game six of the finals, he got to start at first as Saavedra was used in left field. The move paid off as he hit a key RBI double to put Pinar del Rio ahead 3-1 in a 6-1 triumph that locked up the pennant.
