Biographical Information[edit]
Nilsa Rodríguez has played regularly for the Cuban women's national team.
In the 2012 Women's Baseball World Cup, she hit .313/.500/.438 with 6 walks in 8 games, starting in right field. She had 6 putouts, an assist and no errors. She tied Amber Dammers, Tamara Holmes, Akiko Shimura and Tahlia Wellington for 9th in the event in walks. [1] She was with Cuba for the 2015 Pan American Games but did not get into a game. [2]
She was back as a starter by the 2016 Women's Baseball World Cup, hitting .375/.375/.458 with 6 runs in 7 games and going 6-for-6 in steals after being 0-for-2 in 2012. She again played error-free defense (9 PO, 1 A). She was 3-for-3 versus South Korea. She was second on Cuba in runs, one behind Yordanka Rodríguez. She tied Yuki Kawabata and Famke Gildemacher for 8th in the Cup in swipes. [3]
The Bayamo native was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI in the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, as Yamisleidy Perez took over as starter in right. [4]
Off the field, she has taught physical education. [5]
