Biographical Information[edit]

Nick Stavinoha initially went to college as middle linebacker and long snapper for the University of Houston Cougars. He decided he wanted to play baseball, so he transferred to San Jacinto College-North and helped the Gators to the 2002 NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series. After two seasons (2002-2003) there, he transferred to Louisiana State University where he played his junior and senior seasons.

Stavinoha was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 7th round of the 2005 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Steve Gossett for $15,000 and made his pro debut that summer.
