Biographical Information[edit]
Nick Childs graduated from Cherry Creek High School in Colorado, the same school that produced brothers Josh Bard and Mike Bard. He attended Colorado State University (CSU) where he earned a degree in journalism and technical communication in 2011. Childs also earned a masters in sports administration from the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in 2015. Colorado State does not have a baseball program to compete against other NCAA schools, but does have an excellent club baseball program that has won multiple National Club Baseball Association championships. Childs played for the Rams and later became the team's pitching coach (2011-2012) and head coach (2013-2014).
After leaving Colorado State, Childs worked as a graduate assistant coach at UNC while earning his masters degree. The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma hired him as a pitching coach for the 2015/2016 season. Childs returned to Colorado in 2017-2018 with the Regis University Rangers. He went back to UNC in August 2018 as a pitching coach where he stayed through 2019. Childs gained additional experience coaching summer collegiate baseball teams in the Mile High Collegiate Baseball League. He was the pitching coach for the Greeley Grays in 2015, the head coach of the Brighton Generals in 2016, and head coach of the Denver Generals in 2017.
The Milwaukee Brewers hired Childs as a pitching coach for the Carolina Mudcats in 2020 before the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19. He was pitching coach of the Biloxi Shuckers in 2021-2022. In 2023 Childs served as the Brewers minor league pitching coordinator.
