Biographical Information[edit]
Nick Avants began his professional umpiring career in the Florida Rookie League in 1964. He then umpired in the Appalachian League in 1965 and 1966, the Carolina League in 1967, the Texas League in 1968 and 1969 and the American Association from 1970 to 1972. He was called up to the American League to work 10 games in 1970 and 8 in 1971.
