Newburgh Black Diamonds

From BR Bullpen

Managed by Wayne Krenchicki in their only season, the Newburgh Black Diamonds went 24-26 in the 1998 Atlantic League. Their attendance of 40,029 was less than half of any other team to play a schedule with regular home games. Matt Murray (5-7, 3.21) was 7th in the league in ERA while Paul Romanolli (2-7, 11 Sv, 1.77) had a good ERA but poor record out of the bullpen. The offense was led by All-Star 2B Ryan Gorecki, who hit .327, 4th in the league, and 3B Jose Viera (.308, 15 HR, .579 slugging).

The next year, they become the Lehigh Valley Black Diamonds.
