In June 1911 the Grand Rapids Furniture Makers of the Central League moved to Newark, OH and became the Newark Skeeters. The team went 59-78, 7th in the 8-team league, though a player named Gray hit .344/~.391/.535 to finish second in the league in average and possibly first in slugging. The next season the Skeeters played in the Ohio State League and went 72-68 before vanishing.
