New England

New England is a region of the northeastern United States that corresponds more or less to the states of Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. It is one of the areas in the country whose settlement is the oldest. Its earliest immigrants came largely from Great Britain (hence its name).
The name has been used for a number of minor leagues such as the New England League, the New England Association and the New England Inter State League, and in the title of various college conferences and educational institutions. There is also an New England Collegiate Baseball League and the New England Sports Network (NESN) which is a regional cable sports broadcaster.
