Biographical Information

Neil Mahoney was a scout for the Boston Red Sox from 1942 to 1960 and the head of the scouting department from 1960 until his death in 1973. He was also head coach at Bowdoin College from 1943-1945. Mahoney also managed teams in the Northern League and Cape Cod League. [1]

Mahoney signed Jimmy Piersall and Haywood Sullivan for the Red Sox. [2]
