Neil Ioviero has been a successful college coach.

Ioviero was 7-1 for Rutgers in 1991. He followed with a 6-1, 3.50 record as a junior, finishing 10th in the Atlantic-10 Conference in ERA. After college, he spent four seasons in the independent leagues. He was 0-1 with a 7.56 ERA and 2.58 WHIP for the 1994 Portsmouth Explorers then had a 1-2, 6.85 record and 1.97 WHIP in 1995 for the Sullivan Mountain Lions. The next year, he improved to 6-4, 5.04 for the Johnstown Steal. He ended his playing career with the 1997 Richmond Roosters, going 0-1 with a 4.09 ERA.

Becoming head coach of Kean University in 1998, he guided the team to a 25-9 record and their second NCAA Tournament appearance. Better things were down the pike. Kean set a school record for wins (33-12) in 2002 and won their first New Jersey Athletic Conference title. In 2005, he was named NJAC Coach of the Year. He won that honor again in 2007, when Kean set a new record for wins (43) and won the 2007 Division III College World Series, the school's first Series appearance and first national title. Ioviero was named the American Baseball Coaches Association NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year.

Kean continued its winning ways, going to the 2008 Division III College World Series, 2009 Division III College World Series and 2011 Division III College World Series. He was named NJAC Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2009 and was 398-159-2 through 2009.
