Biographical Information[edit]
Firstbaseman Ned Waldrop had a short but relatively successful career in the minors, mostly in the class-D KITTY League. He debuted by hitting .343 for the Forest City Owls in the 1948 Western Carolina League, with 17 HR in 88 games. He moved out of D ball for the only time in 1949 with 26 games for the Charlotte Hornets, hitting .271. He moved to the Fulton Railroaders for 79 games that year hitting .315 with 22 HR in 79 games. Waldrop would stay with Fulton the rest of his career - lasting until 1955. He would lead the Kitty with 114 runs in 1954, 150 hits in 1950, 28 HR and 130 RBI in 1950 and 22 HR and 159 RBI in 1954. Waldrop made the Kitty All-Star team in 1950, 1951, and 1953 at 1B.
Waldrop also managed Fulton, by now the Fulton Lookouts, for part of 1955.
