Biographical Information[edit]
John McGraw signed Ned Porter out of the University of Florida in 1926. Porter pitched in three games for the New York Giants in 1926-27.
Porter, who attended the University of Florida in 1924-26 and was one of the first players from that school to come to the majors, had attracted McGraw's attention when he pitched a game against the Giants during the spring in Florida.
After his major league days, Porter pitched in the minors through 1935. The SABR Minor League Database also shows him as managing Fulton in 1937 along with playing second base, although he had never previously played second base in the minors.
