Biographical Information[edit]
Nat Jewett played two games at catcher for the Brooklyn Eckfords of the National Association in 1872. He was one of the older players on the team.
He enlisted to fight in the Civil War in 1861. The book Playing for Keeps: A History of Early Baseball states that he played for the junior Irving Club, left them for the Empires, and then joined the Mutuals in 1866.
According to the book When Johnny Came Sliding Home, he tended to follow pitcher Phonney Martin from team to team.
