NBC

NBC or, in full, the National Broadcasting Company has been a broadcaster in the United States for decades. Its radio division ran from 1926 to 2003, while it has been broadcasting on television since 1941.

While the network currently does not have a baseball contract, it has a long past as a home to baseball. The first baseball game on NBC was aired in 1947. NBC would air the World Series every year from 1947 to 1976, after which they would take turns with ABC until the 1988 World Series. After a seven-year absence the Series returned to NBC in 1995. Once again alternating with now FOX, NBC hosted the 1997 and 1999 Series before FOX got an exclusive deal for the World Series.

NBC also aired a Game of the Week from 1956 to 1964 and then again from 1966 to 1989. That second period was the heyday of the program, as NBC had exclusive rights to the weekly game broadcast on Saturday afternoons. Announcer Joe Garagiola, teaming up with Tony Kubek and later with Vin Scully, was the mainstay of the program, following a period during which Curt Gowdy was the main broadcast voice.
