Biographical Information[edit]

Mu-jong Kim played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 7 years and Nippon Professional Baseball for 4 years.

Kim was signed by the Hiroshima Carp in the 8th round of the 1972 NPB draft, but he only got 20 at-bats combined in his 10-year career with the Carp. He decided to join the Haitai Tigers in 1983, and he hit .262/.313/.453 with 12 homers in his first season in Korea. Kim was 9th in homers (between Yong-cheol Kim and Jong-mo Kim), 5th in RBI (between Jong-do Lee and Bong-yun Kim) and 8th in doubles (6 behind Lee). He then had a .244/.315/.415 batting line in 1984, and he hit .247/.307/.380 with 7 homers in 1985. Kim;s batting line was .224/.283/.331 in 1986, and he also won the KBO All-Star Game MVP that season. He batted .226/.293/.354 in 1987, but he only played 9 games with the big club in 1988. He announced his retirement after the 1988 season, and he was the battery coach for the Samsung Lions from 1991 to 1993.

Overall, Kim hit .240/.301/.385 with 326 hits and 41 homers in 7 seasons in the KBO.
