Biographical Information[edit]

Mu-geun Cho has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korean national team.

Cho was drafted by the KT Wiz in the 6th round of the 2015 KBO draft, and he soon joined their bullpen as a rookie. He was 8-5 with a solid 1.88 ERA in 43 appearances, and he also notched 4 saves. He made it onto the roster of South Korea in the 2015 Premier 12 after Si-hwan Jang withdrew. Cho pitched 1 1/3 innings with 2 strikeouts and a run allowed against Japan, and he struck out Kyle Martin to end the game against the USA. However, Cho never repeated his solid performance from his rookie year, and his ERA rose to 8.61 in 38 games in 2016. He pitched 16 games with a 7.36 ERA in 2017, then the Lotte Giants selected him as compensation for the loss of Jae-Gyun Hwang. Cho stayed in the minors for almost the entire 2018 season as he only pitched 2/3 of an inning with the big club, and he had a 1.86 ERA in 8 games before he was enlisted into the military. He pitched 2 games in 2022 after returning, and he announced his retirement. He became a coach for the Giants in 2024.

Overall, Cho was 11-5 with a 4.46 ERA, struck out 130 in 137 1/3 innings in 6 seasons in the KBO.
