Mourik Huijser is a catcher.
Huijser debuted in the Hoofdklasse in 2008, going 0 for 3 with a walk for DOOR Neptunus. He was 5 for 15 with a double and two walks in the 2009 European Junior Championship. He also attended the MLB European Academy. He was 0 for 2 in the 2010 European Cup. He was bullpen catcher for the Dutch national team for the 2010 Haarlem Baseball Week and 2010 European Championship.
Backing up former MVP Martijn Meeuwis for Neptunus in 2010, he hit .193/.338/.228 and stole five bases in five tries. He allowed 17 steals without throwing out a runner. He was forced into action in the second game of the 2010 Holland Series when Meeuwis was hit in the head by a foul ball. Huijser made a crucial throwing error just an inning later.
