James Monroe Sweeney

Biographical Information[edit]

Monroe Sweeney began umpiring in the Texas League in 1922 and 1923. From 1924 to 1926, he was an umpire in the National League, working a total of 412 games. From 1927 to 1931, he was in the Pacific Coast League, and in 1932 in the Western League, before finishing his career in the International League in 1935.

He died of a heart attack at age 57.
