Biographical Information

Momotaro Matsumoto played for Honda in the industrial leagues after college. He was on the list of candidates for the Japanese national team for the 2017 Asian Championship but was not selected. In the 2018 Asian Games, he did play for Japan. Versus China, he homered twice and tripled. He hit .333/.375/.933 with 5 RBI in 4 games as Japan's DH entering the finale. He was second in slugging (to Jae-gyun Hwang), tied for 3rd in home runs and tied Jawad Ali and Matthew Holliday for 4th in total bases. In the Gold Medal Game, he was 0 for 3 in a loss to South Korea.
