Biographical Information[edit]

Moises Robles played his sixth minor league season in 2009.

Robles signed with the New York Mets at age 19. He was very good for the 2004 DSL Mets, going 1-1 with 8 saves and a 0.74 ERA. He was still returned to the DSL Mets for 2005 and struggled with a 4-3, 3 Sv, 5.45 record and 53 hits in 39 2/3 IP. Back with the club for a third year, he was 1-2 with 6 saves and a 0.60 ERA, allowing 8 runs (but only 2 earned) in 19 innings.

The Pittsburgh Pirates took him in the AAA phase of the 2006 Rule 5 Draft. They assigned him to the State College Spikes, where he was 4-9 with a 4.59 ERA but walked only 9 in 64 2/3 IP. He was 2nd in the New York-Penn League in the lowest walk rate by a starter but led the NYPL in losses.

In 2008, Robles pitched for three different Pirate farm clubs - the Hickory Crawdads (1-1, 6 Sv, 2.00 in 19 G, 1 BB in 27 IP), the Lynchburg Hillcats (1-1, 6 Sv, 3.80, .333 opponent average in 21 G) and the Altoona Curve (1-1, 6.27, .359 opponent average in 13 G). Despite only saving 12 games, he was second in the Pirate farm chain behind only Jesse Chavez.

The Dominican right-hander was 1-0 with a 6.48 ERA in six games for Altoona in 2009 but spent most of the year with the Hillcats. He was 0-2 with a 4.43 ERA in 28 games for the 2009 Lynchburg Hillcats with only 7 walks in 42 2/3 IP.
