Biographical Information[edit]
Mitsuro Sawafuji pitched for the Kintetsu Pearls of the Japanese Pacific League from 1950 to 1957. He debuted at 30 years old.
He went 18-19 with 20 complete games and a 3.70 ERA in 301 2/3 innings his first campaign and followed that with an 8-16, 3.12 line in 1951. After losing 22 games in 1952 and 12 more in 1953, the hurler went 14-2 with a 2.00 ERA in 144 innings jn 1954. He could not replicate such success over the course of his succeeding campaigns.
Overall, he was 68-90 with a 3.15 ERA in 275 games (166 starts) over eight campaigns.
