Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Mitsuchika Hirai played for the Lotte Orions (1989-1991) and Chiba Lotte Marines (1992-2001). He was drafted by the Orions in the sixth round of 1988 NPB draft. In his third campaign, 1991, he slashed .314/.377/.394 with 4 home runs, 34 RBI and 38 runs scored in 110 games. He led the Pacific League in batting average and made the Best Nine. He led the Pacific League with 6 triples. A few years later, in 1998, he batted .320/.391/.437 with 8 home runs, 35 RBI and 59 runs scored in 116 games. In 2000, he hit .305/.393/.457 in 105 at-bats. Overall, Hirai batted .272/.343/.376 with 39 home runs, 294 RBI and 343 runs scored in 1,067 games over 14 seasons.
