Biographical Information[edit]
Misael Valenzuela pitched in Mexico from 2007 to 2017, both in the Mexican League and the Mexican Pacific League. He made his first appearance for the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in 2007, but faced only one batter, which he failed to retire. He did not return until 2009, when he went 0-3, 6.89 in 43 games for the Guerreros de Oaxaca. He was primarily used as a LOOGY in his 9 season in La Liga, never logging more innings than games pitched. He was with Oaxaca from 2009 to 2015, then ended his career with 8 games for Vaqueros Laguna in 2017 after missing the 2016 season. Like most lefty specialists, he had few decisions over the course of his career - wins, losses or saves - and his ERA fluctuated wildly, but was usually quite high, which explains while he was never given more responsibilities. His best season was probably 2011, when he went 5-2, 4.76 in 55 games for the Guerreros, with a total of 34 innings pitched. Overall, he was 9-15, with 2 saves and a career ERA of 5.85 in 332 games in the Mexican League.
In winter ball, he mostly played for the Mayos de Navojoa, with his peak coming in 2013-14 when he was 2-2, 2.45 in 29 games. Ironically, this was also the year he was charged with a key loss in the championship series against the Naranjeros de Hermosillo on January 24th, when Navojoa blew a five-run lead in the 8th inning, before eventually losing the series. It was his best chance to appear in Caribbean Series, as the Mayos never won an LMP pennant during his tenure.
