Biographical Information[edit]
Minoru Murakami managed Hankyu briefly in the early days of the Japanese Professional Baseball League. He took over a first-place club in 1937 and led them to a 15-29-2 finish the rest of the way. Murakami again took over a first-place club in 1939 and led them to a 45-31-2 record the remainder of the campaign.
Murakami was more notable as one of the organizers of the Hankyu club and as their general manager for many years. In 1950, he became the first chief director of the Pacific League. In 1995, he was elected to the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame.
