Biographical Information[edit]

Ming-Chieh Hsu pitched in the CPBL for 6 years.

Hsu was selected by the La New Bears with the fifth overall pick of 2007 CPBL Draft. In his rookie year, Hsu was 1-2 with 5 holds in 45 games; his ERA was an elite 2.43. He lost the Rookie of The Year to Yi-Chuan Lin. He had a giant step in 2010, as he lowered his ERA to 1.30 and got a career-high 11 holds. When the La New Bears turn into the Lamigo Monkeys in 2010, Hsu had the best year in his career. He notched his 10th save when pitching 28 games, which set the league record. Hsu ended up with a 2.77 ERA with 30 saves, which broke the record of local pitchers in saves. (This record was broke by Yu-Hsun Chen in 2017). He still pitched well in 2012, with a 2.14 ERA and 7 holds. However, Hsu's pitching mysteriously collapsed in 2013, as his ERA turned into 6.31, and this is the last season he stayed in the league for entire season. He only pitched another 2 games and released by the Monkeys in 2015.

Overall, Hsu was 10-11 with a 2.78 ERA, collected 23 holds and 51 saves, struck out 202 and pitched 236 innings in 6 seasons in the CPBL.
