Milwaukee Park
Home of the Milwaukee Grays, 1878
Last Game September 14, 1878
Milwaukee Park, also known as the Milwaukee Baseball Grounds was built in early 1878 to accommodate the Milwaukee Grays, who had just been admitted to the National League. It was located a ten to fifteen-minute walk from downtown Milwaukee, WI, at 10th and Clybourn Streets. Total capacity was around 4.000, with 500 seats in the grandstand.
The 1878 season was not very successful for the Grays, who finished last in the standings and were expelled from the league. In following years, the amateur Maple Leaf club, which had also used the grounds in 1878, played its games there, as did the city's cricket club. The park was abandoned a few years later.
The name Milwaukee Park was also used for the Lloyd Street Grounds, which were home to the American League Milwaukee Brewers in 1901.
