Lloyd Street Grounds, also known as Milwaukee Park, was the home of the American League Milwaukee Brewers for the 1901 season and had a racetrack style grandstand. A rickety wooden fence with wooden supports enclosed the outfield, and there was a 20-foot-high canvas screen in left field. After the 1901 season, the Brewers became the St. Louis Browns, and Milwaukee was without a major league team for over 50 years.

The ballpark had previously hosted the minor league Milwaukee Brewers, first in the Western League from 1895 to 1899 and in the minor league American League in 1900. It was built by Brewers owner Matthew Killilea when he found that the rent charged by the owner of Athletic Park was extortionate. After the major league Brewers left town, however, they were replaced by a minor league team of the same name in the American Association, and that team moved to refurbished Athletic Park.
