Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Mike Walter was selected by the Houston Astros in the 25th round of the 1993 amateur draft and made his pro debut that year, appearing in 17 games for the GCL Astros. He played seven seasons in their organization, reaching the AA level in his last three seasons. He then spent a year in the independent Texas-Louisiana League, going 0-3 with a 5.79 ERA in 14 appearances for the Jackson Diamond Cats in 2000.
Following his baseball career, Walter became a police officer in Pearl, Mississippi. He was shot and killed in the line of duty in 2012
