Biographical Information

Mike Vanvleet was a major league umpire from 2000 to 2002. He received a promotion to the major leagues following the mass resignation of members of the Major League Umpires Association towards the end of the 1999 season, and worked a full schedule of games that first year. However, as many of the umpires who had taken part in the failed resignation ploy were re-hired over the next few years, he lost his job and only worked part-time in the majors the next two years.
