Biographical Information[edit]
On January 29, 2016 the Vallejo Admirals announced the hiring of Mike Samuels as their Manager for the 2016 Pacific Association season. That same day, the Admirals announced the hiring of pitching coach Warren Brusstar, and bench coaches Tim Wallace and Lonnie Jackson. On July 1st, after a sluggish 11-16 start to the season, the Admirals announced that player P.J. Phillips would be replacing Samuels, becoming player-manager. Admirals owner Kevin Reilly was quoted "We just weren't getting the results we wanted, and yet Mike has made valuable contributions in player recruitment and development." Samuels' staff was also relieved of their duties, being replaced by pitching coach Roman Gomez and assistant coach Kenneth Owen.
