Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Mike Recchia began his professional career in 2010, when he was signed by the New York Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on June 16th.

Prior to playing professionally, he attended Eastern Illinois University for three years, going 16-9 overall. In 2009, his junior year, he was 8-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 13 games (12 starts).

He began his pro career as a reliever, posting a 2.49 ERA in 31 appearances for the Staten Island Yankees and Charleston RiverDogs in just his second campaign. He was let go by New York following that campaign and joined the independent ranks, going 11-3 with a 2.51 ERA in 24 games (20 starts) for the Frontier League's Windy City ThunderBolts. In 150 1/3 innings, he allowed only 107 hits while striking out 177 batters.

On January 7, 2013, the Baltimore Orioles signed the pitcher, but he never played in their system. He returned to Windy City to start the season, but was sold to the Chicago White Sox partway through the year. While in their system, he pitched for the Kannapolis Intimidators and Winston-Salem Dash and went 7-3 with a 2.97 ERA in 21 games (18 starts) overall. In 109 innings, he had 130 Ks. Between the Dash and Birmingham Barons in 2014, Recchia went 10-7 with a 3.05 ERA in 26 starts to earn MiLB.com Organization All-Star honors. He began 2015 with Birmingham.
