Biographical Information[edit]

Al "Coalyard Mike" Handiboe played five games in the majors with the 1911 New York Highlanders. In the minors, among other stops, he played several seasons with Savannah, and also managed them once.

He is not listed as related to Jim Handiboe. He was the brother of minor league umpire Ed Handiboe, who had a reputation as a good umpire.

Sporting Life on Sept. 16, 1911 called him Al and said he was an amateur with some pro experience. Hal Chase signed Al on a visit to D.C.
