Biographical Information[edit]
Al "Coalyard Mike" Handiboe played five games in the majors with the New York Highlanders in 1911. In the minors, among other stops, he played several seasons with Savannah, and also managed them once.
He is not listed as related to Jim Handiboe but was the brother of minor league umpire Ed Handiboe, who had a reputation as a good umpire.
Sporting Life on Sept. 16, 1911 said he was an amateur with some pro experience. Hal Chase signed Al on a visit to D.C.
