Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Handiboe played one year in the majors, at age 19, going 7-7 with a 3.32 ERA. He also played a couple of games in the outfield.
He is not listed as related to Mike Handiboe.
Jim was born, and died, in Columbus, OH and also played several times for the Columbus team in a minor league career which stretched from 1886-1901.
Sporting Life in 1893 referred to a player named Jim Handiboe who drank himself to death. Clearly it was not this Jim Handiboe, who was usually called Nick and lived a long life. There was also a John Handiboe, Nick's cousin, who in 1896 was said to be with Petersburg.
In 1909 he was serving as an umpire (apparently in the minors).
