Biographical Information[edit]
Mike Corcoran was the brother of Larry Corcoran, he of the three no-hitters with the Chicago White Stockings. Mike pitched one game for Chicago in 1884 and was thoroughly pummeled, giving up 14 runs (4 earned) on 16 hits and 7 walks while throwing 5 wild pitches in a complete game loss. Despite his having a famous brother, very little was known about Mike. He was one of six siblings growing up in Brooklyn and made his living as a carpenter. Recent research by SABR shows that he died in East Setauket in 1927, after living in Brookhaven in his later years. There is some confusion about his birth date, as census records and his death certificate show different years. As he is listed in the 1860 census as a two-year-old, it disproves the 1864 birth date given in his death certificate. He was buried in St. James Cemetery in Setauket, NY.
