Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Mickey Devine managed the Newark Bears for part of the 1923 season. He was fired by telegram on Friday July 6th, but refused to be deposed, threatening to go to Judge Landis regarding the Newark team and the Baltimore team being "syndicates". By the following Wednesday he was replaced by Andy Anderson on an interim basis. The next day he was back with the team as a player and Fred Brainerd was manager.
