Biographical Information[edit]

Michael O'Neal was a pitcher in college and graduated from Auburn University in 2014 with a degree in kinesiology and exercise science. After graduation he continued his playing career in the independent leagues (2014-2015, 2017) and minors (2016). O'Neal was signed by the Joliet Slammers in 2018, but was released before making an appearance.

O'Neal worked at various baseball training venues while still a player. After his playing days ended, he worked in a series of short-term coaching positions. These included working as the Pacelli High School pitching coach in the fall of 2018, at Driveline Baseball for eight months in 2019 as a pitching trainer, and as the pitching coach for the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Cougars in the fall of 2019.

The Milwaukee Brewers hired O'Neal to be the Carolina Mudcats development coach in 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic caused cancellation of the minor league season. He was development coach for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2021 and Biloxi Shuckers in 2022. He became pitching coach of the Carolina Mudcats in 2023-2024.

O'Neal also has experience coaching in the Australian Baseball League with the Brisbane Bandits. He was a coach for the 2022/2023 team and pitching coach for the 2023/2024 squad.
