Biographical Information

Pitcher Michael Feliz was a member of the World team at the 2014 Futures Game. At the time, he was pitching for the Class A Quad Cities River Bandits, in the Houston Astros organization. Less than a year later, on May 31, 2015, he made his major league debut with the Astros by pitching one scoreless inning in relief against the Chicago White Sox. He had been called up two days before form the AA Corpus Christi Hooks, and went back to Corpus Christi after the game. He went 0-0, 7.88 in 5 games for the Astros that first year.

In both 2016 and 2017, Feliz spent the majority of the season in Houston but also pitched in the high minors. The first year, he went 8-1, 4.43 in 47 games in relief, striking out 95 batters in 65 innings. It should have ensured his place on the team for 2017, but the Astros had a very strong team that year, and he had to fight to get key pitching assignments. He pitched 46 times, but his ERA increased to 5.63 as he gave up 53 hits in 48 innings. His record was 4-2 and he did strike out 70 batters, showing that he still had great stuff. However, his lack of consistency meant that he was left off the team's postseason roster as it won the first World Series title in its history.

On January 13, 2018, he was one of four players traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in return for ace Gerrit Cole, the others being Jason Martin, Colin Moran and Joe Musgrove.
