Biographical Information[edit]

The Milwaukee Brewers drafted outfielder Michael Carter in the 3rd round of the 1990 Amateur Draft from the University of West Alabama. Carter spent four seasons in the Brewers system and reached Triple-A in 1993. He played for the Iowa Cubs the next three years, but never received a call to the major leagues even though he won a AAA batting championship, hitting .325 to pace the 1995 AA. Thereafter, Carter split his playing time between affiliated ball, the independent leagues in the U.S., and the Mexican League. He last played in affiliated ball in 2001 with the Richmond Braves before concluding his career in 2002. In the minor league portion of his career, Carter hit .287/.321/.377 while appearing in 892 games.

After retiring as a player, Carter founded Michael Carter Hitting Technics in Phoenix, AZ and was the hitting instructor there from 2003 to 2017. Carter returned to the Chicago Cubs organization in 2018 as a hitting coach for the AZL Cubs 1. He was the hitting coach for the Eugene Emeralds in 2019.
