Biographical Information[edit]

Michael Brown pitched in the Tampa Bay Devil Rays system in 1996 and 1998.

He was drafted by the Devil Rays out of community college in the 32nd round of the 1996 amateur draft - just ahead of future major leaguer Jason Conti - and began his professional career that year. In three games (one start) for the GCL Devil Rays, he was 0-0 with a 11.57 ERA. In 4 2/3 innings, he allowed seven hits and eight walks. He did not pitch in 1997. In 1998, he was 1-2 with a 7.41 ERA in 13 games (six starts) for the Princeton Devil Rays.

Overall, Brown was 1-2 with a 7.91 ERA in 16 games (seven starts). In 38 2/3 innings, he allowed 45 hits and 30 walks while striking out 30 batters. He was originally signed by scout Paul Faulk.

He later worked in auto sales. He died on January 13, 2013 at the age of 36.
